Was Ist Kvass?

MAD MONK
An absolute classic is our Mad Monk Cocktail: mix 30 ml of Vodka, 30 ml of Aquavit and 3 shots of orange bitter in a double-rocks-glass, add ice and top up with 120 ml of KVASS.

It goes without saying...
...that Kvass is a very versatile basis for longdrinks and an absolute sensation with either vodka or Jägermeister.

SPECIAL: KVASS-SOUP OKROSHKA
What other drink can claim to be an essential ingredient of a whole range of tasty dishes?! Well, our KVASS can! Russian cuisine has been very creative with kvass-based recipes and we have selected an absolute summertime-marvel for you: an ice-cold Okroshka! The preparation takes a bit of time, but it is definitely worth the effort.

Ingredients:
5 bottles of KVASS, 2 eggs, 300 gram of cooked ham, 2 red beetroots (cooked), 4 large gherkins, 1 teaspoon each of mustard and horseradish (creme), 1 handful each of parsley and chives.

Preparation:
Cook the eggs, then separate the egg white from the yoke und cut it up. Then cut the ham, beet roots and gherkins into small cubes and mix with the egg white.

Stir the egg yoke, the mustard and the horseradish with a bit of KVASS (1 bottle). Mix the sauce with the other ingredients and let it rest for at least 3 hours in the fridge. To finish, add the remaining KVASS as well as parsley and chives.

Serve with sour crème and "on the rocks".
